Hm. Let’s see now…
To be a popular writer whose books give pleasure to millions would definitely mean a big fat purse. And I verily believe no one in their right mind would object to becoming rich.
But with popularity comes public scrutiny, celebrity status, the gossips — the kind of thing I can do without, thank you very much. I hate the spotlight – they make my pores more visible.
So I guess I’ll play safe and go for the obscure novelist. It’s okay by me if my story-telling talent will only be known to a select few. Nor does it matter that my book will never ever be a best-seller.
What’s most important is for me to know that I’d have given it my all, that I’ve put my heart and soul into my work, and that I can be sure what I’ve written will leave a lasting impression to those who cared enough to read it. The rest is just gravy.
Alright, I’ve made my choice. Now Witch, do your thing!
Well said!
