WPC: WORK OF ART ~ Sigiriya’s Frescoes


These are some of the magnificent ancient frescoes that can be found in a cave on top of Sri Lanka’s Sigiriya Rock Fortress. There are about 22 paintings, all depicting exquisite female figures. To get to the cave, you need to climb a set of spiral staircase about 4 storeys high.

Sigiriya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  You can read more here.

    Lovely photos! Climbing the rock itself is an amazing experience. Something everyone should definitely do. When we went though there was a bee problem so we could not stay for too long as there were swarms. Looking forward to reading more of your posts!

      Imagine living in a mansion so high up, complete with an olympic size pool and caves to explore. the Prince sure knows how to pick a spot!
