A Malaysia Airlines jet Flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing has gone missing in Vietnamese airspace at 2:40 am Malaysia time (1840 GMT Friday), about two hours after leaving Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The Boeing 777-200 flight was carrying 227 passengers (including 2 infants) and 12 crew members. The passengers are of 14 different nationalities, inter alia, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, France, USA and New Zealand.
At the time of writing, 18:36 local time (10:36 GMT Saturday), the fate of the aircraft and its passengers is still unknown. Search and rescue authorities of Vietnam, Malaysia, and China are continuing their efforts to locate the missing plane. Malaysia Airlines said the plane relayed no distress signal, indications of rough weather, or other signs of trouble.
Malaysia Airlines has suffered a few incidents in its history. The worst ever recorded was in 1977 in southern Malaysia, killing all 93 passengers and 7 crew.
