I See. I Like. I Blog.
Dear readers, when I saw ‘Family’ as the subject-matter for this week’s challenge, I immediately thought of this picture.
The original photo was featured in a newspaper report of a man who was gunned down at his home late last year. The woman in the picture is the deceased’s mother.
It was her eyes that caught my attention. The forlorn gaze with eyes filled with unshed tears spoke of the unspeakable feelings that only a mother knows when the life of her child is cruelly taken away from her.
It’s as if Time stood still for her as she clung on to the crying man (her other son), seemingly oblivious to her surrounding.
I kept the picture as a reminder that death comes unannounced, and that life is indeed fragile and brief. To deal with the passing of a member of the family is never easy but having the support of your loved ones may help ease the burden of carrying the grief.
